Artistic Heritage

My journey as a metalsmith follows a family tradition of artistic expression. With a grandmother who painted and a mother who explored various artistic mediums including drawing, painting and ceramics, creativity has always been a central part of my life while my early artistic endeavors focused on drawing, discovering metalsmithing opened a new dimension of interest and challenge.

After my formal college training in jewelry arts, I apprenticed with a jeweler in the early 90's and started my own business selling my designs at one of a kind craft show. Those early days were where I developed my skills and passion for transforming metal into wearable art.

A Fusion of Old and New

My jewelry represents a fusion of styles - modern geometric designs with clean lines and combined with historical and cultural motifs. This fusion of old and new creates jewelry that feels timeless yet modern.

Inspired by nature, crafted with precision, every design begins in nature. Hiking through the woods provides the inspiration and the solitude to allow my ideas to take form. The details are refined later in my sketchbook at home.

I use aluminum because it is strong yet incredibly lightweight, making it perfect for bold statement pieces that are comfortable to wear. A signature element of my designs is the stonewall motif, a reflection of my admiration for the variety of patterns found in nature and architecture.

Jewelry that speaks to you.

I believe that jewelry is more than just an accessory - it's an extension of one's identity.

When you wear Gerard Francis Jewelry, you're embracing confidence, individuality and personal symbolism.

My pieces resonate with those who are drawn to cultural symbols and values that shape who they are.

When my clients wear my designs, I want them to feel a connection and think, "It just feels like a part of me."
